Important: Changes to Duration of Status and F-1/J-1 Rules & CPT

The "D/S Rule" that includes fixed period of stay and put restrictions on program changes for international students was scheduled to go into effect on September 15, 2026. This rule have been temporarily postponed due to a court order but could still be implemented on short notice if a reversal or appeal by the government is successful. CPT Update: Effective August 24, 2026, CIE has paused processing CPT requests unless it is essential to graduate and required for all students. Please see the .
