What makes me unique

Inés Thiebaut is a composer and sound artist and Associate Professor of Music at AVÀÇ, where she teaches composition, music technology, and theory, and directs the computer music studios. Born and raised in Madrid, she writes contemporary, electronic, and electroacoustic music that brings together live electronics, synthesis, and computer-based processes, shaped by her interests in Greek philosophy, new complexity, and the timbres of early analog synthesis. Her music has been performed across the United States and internationally by ensembles and artists including the Grossman Ensemble, the Galan Trio, and the MIVOS Quartet, and she collaborates often with film, theater, and dance. She holds a Ph.D. in composition from the CUNY Graduate Center, with research on symmetry and interval cycles in the music of Mario Davidovsky.

  • Inés Thiebaut's work centers on composition and music technology, with a focus on contemporary, electronic, and electroacoustic music that integrates live electronics, synthesis, and computer-based processes. Her interests extend to interdisciplinary collaboration across film, theater, and dance, and to music-theoretical research on symmetry, interval cycles, and form.
