Digital accessibility archive 2019–2022 and earlier
This page summarizes pre-2023 workshops, trainings, and efforts related to digital accessibility, online teaching, and learning technologies at AVÀÇ.
Many resources from this period focused on building foundational skills in online teaching, and on introducing accessibility practices that later became more formal under the ADA Title II digital accessibility rule.
These materials are preserved in broad categories for historical and reference purposes. They may not fully reflect current guidance or tools.
For the most up to date information, please use the main Accessibility compliance for digital teaching and learning page and the campus Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI) website.
2019–2022 workshops and activities
Between 2019 and 2022, Online Campus and campus partners offered a range of workshops and consultations that touched on digital accessibility, especially as the university expanded online and hybrid teaching.

Because tools, policies, and best practices have evolved significantly since 2019–2022, faculty and staff are encouraged to use more recent materials (2023 and later) whenever possible.
Key themes and evolution (2019–2022)
Across 2019–2022, several themes in digital accessibility emerged that continue to shape current guidance:
- Rapid expansion of online and hybrid teaching: increased reliance on LMS tools, video, and digital documents highlighted the importance of accessible design.
- Growing awareness of accessibility: more workshops and communications began to explicitly address disability, accommodations, and universal design.
- Tool adoption and experimentation: faculty and departments began using captioning tools, accessibility checkers, and third party platforms that would later be integrated into more formal accessibility workflows.
- Foundation for later compliance work: experiences from this period informed campus approaches to ADA Title II, CSU ATI implementation, and course remediation strategies.
Much of the detailed, step by step guidance developed after 2022 is now documented on the main digital accessibility page and in the 2023, 2024, and 2025 archives.
How to request older materials
If you need access to specific workshop recordings, slides, or communications from 2019–2022 or earlier that are not listed here, you can request them from Online Campus.
When requesting materials, please include:
- The approximate year and term (for example, "Spring 2021" or "Fall 2020")
- The topic or title, if you know it (for example, "accessible documents," "captioning," or "online teaching basics")
- How you plan to use the material (for example, department training, grant documentation, or personal reference)
Online Campus can help identify the most relevant and current materials, and may recommend newer sessions or updated guidance that better reflects current expectations.
